Please forgive me

Will you all please forgive me as I have once again had to move and now on top of it my computer is DOWN. I went to put a new wi-fi PCI card in it last night and discovered that my fan is bad. I have a new one ordered but until then I will not turn on the puter because I don't want to lose the processor also. I promise to get back up and running as fast as I can. In the mean time the other staff at Nut House Scraps is taking reallygood care of the store. We have lots of new things in the store for your scrapping pleasure.

I would like to say Happy Memorial Day to everyone. If you have ever had a family member serve in the Armed Forces I know that you will be joining us as we remember those who have lost their lives so that we me be FREE.

Traditional observance of Memorial day has diminished over the years. Many Americans nowadays have forgotten the meaning and traditions of Memorial Day. At many cemeteries, the graves of the fallen are increasingly ignored, neglected. Most people no longer remember the proper flag etiquette for the day. While there are towns and cities that still hold Memorial Day parades, many have not held a parade in decades. Some people think the day is for honoring any and all dead, and not just those fallen in service to our country.

To help re-educate and remind Americans of the true meaning of Memorial Day, the "National Moment of Remembrance" resolution was passed on Dec 2000 which asks that at 3 p.m. local time, for all Americans "To voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a Moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to 'Taps."

The Moment of Remembrance is a step in the right direction to returning the meaning back to the day. What is needed is a full return to the original day of observance. Set aside one day out of the year for the nation to get together to remember, reflect and honor those who have given their all in service to their country.

Scrap-a-layout Challenge:

Let's see some beautiful layouts again this month in the gallery. Every time we run one of these challenges we get some really beautiful layouts.

1. Take a solid or lightly printed background and about 1/3 down one side make 4 small boxes.
2. In 2 of the boxes put solid color and in 2 of the boxes put photos.
3. Now put some decorations under all 4 boxes and one on top of each of the boxes with the solid colors.
4. Now 1/3 down from the top on the other side of the paper put 2 paper strips.
5. On top of the paper strips put 3 photos.
6. Using an Alpha set put a title below the 3 photos.
7. Now put a ribbon down the side under the photos.
8. Finish it off with some more decorations placed under and around the 3 photos.

Place your layout in the gallery and then come back here and place a link to your layout.

1 Month Later

It has been a month now since we have moved. We still have lots of boxes to unpack but we need dressers for the kids so we can have the bins their clothes are in. The two youngest girls seem to think we live in a pig sty and it is a fight to get them to keep their room picked up. I don't expect them to keep them looking like a show case. I really don't mind the lived in look but I do mind your clothes all over the floor and not being able to walk in the door. The boys do a pretty good job of keeping their room clean, only have to tell them to pick up a few items now and then. Every night before they go to bed they all have chores. Joy gets the dishes and cleaning the stove and counters. The boys have to put away the clean dishes, sweep and mop the floor and take out the trash from the whole house. The two girls have to pick up the living room and pick up the bathroom. This way when we go to bed the house looks pretty good every night.

I finely got a new office chair today. I only got my puter back up a few days ago and every since I have we have been sitting on the coffee table so we could use the puter.

It seems that my midnight took the worst of the move. From what we can figure out she was with child when we moved and the stress of the move caused her to have a miscarriage. This really took it tole on her and we almost lost her. I had to get her some omoxiciallin and she is now well on the road to recovery. The only thing is my once heathen cat is now trying to be a lap kitty. It seems she must be part chicken. For her to go out now mommy has to hold her hand. She will not go out without me and then won't move more than 2 feet from me. The only time she leaves my side in the house is when she is chasing Angela's cat "Kitty". When she does this we have to pull her off Kitty and spank her. We are very careful when we spank her because of all she has been though.

Because of my move we have delayed the stores second birthday party. The party will be held the week of May 15, 2011. We started our little store over two years ago as a way to keep our family together. We hope that we have been living up to our goal of bring you top quality scrapbooking and commercial use products. I would like to take the time to remind everyone that every scrapbooking kit in the store are Scrap For Hire and Scrap For Other (S4H, S4O) Friendly. I have not been posting and my wonderful staff has been running the store the past few weeks because I have moved from New Jersey to Florida. It has been a very stressful move but we are here and the house is starting to come together. We finally have beds for 5 out of 6 of the grandkids. We still need one for the baby and Angela still needs a bed frame for herself seeing her bed is on the floor. We are eating in the living room because we have no table yet but we have all the grapefruit and oranges we can eat for FREE. We have a grapefruit tree in our yard and there is a orange tree next door where no one lives. All we got to do is send the kid up the tree to get them. LOL I would share some with you all but I don't think virtural fruit taste very good. LOL My babies are having a hard time dealing with all the noise that 6 kids make. They are used to it being so nice and quiet all the time in our home. Midnight seems to enjoy telling Kitty (Angela's cat) that she not allowed in the bedroom to eat. So Kitty sneaks in when Midnight is sleeping to grab a bit to eat. LOL But they now have one heck of a playground so they don't mind sharing it.

I still need to get my desk top put set back up. right now I am using MY laptop which I am being kind enough to share with Angela so she can do her homework.

When I was just 3 weeks old my moomy decided she did not want me any more so my human mommy fed me with a bottle. The only people was that I had no one to play with or teach me how to be a kitty. After 3 months I finally have a friend. Piglet is my big sister and I mean big sister. Not only is she 5 years old but she must weight 15 lbs. Watch me as I have her "pinned" to the floor.

Never listen to men

I like a jackass listened to a man 3 years ago. I loaned my Hoover Wind Tunel vacumn to my son-in-law and he told me I needed to buy a new vacumn because mine did not work any more. So I went out and bought a new one at $200. But for some reason I did not throw the old one out. I put it in the closet and totally forgot it was there. Then the other day I was looking for something and ran across the vacumn. Well today I pulled it out to see just what my son-in-law was talking about and sure enough it would not pick up. BUT I noticed that the brush was not turning either which told me the belt was broken (HUUUUM was not broken when I loaned it to him) so I turned it up side down and opened it up. I then went downstairs to the kitchen and got a new belt and put it on. Wouldn't you know it it cost a whole $2 to fix the old one. WOW and it was broke beyond repair to him. No wonder they stay broke, they throw out perfectly good things just because they need a repair. So now I have a vacumn for upstairs and one for downstairs. Sure will save my back. Thanks David for making me buy a new vacumn when I did not need it, you are now saving me a lot of back pain.

The following is a poem written by Judge Roy Moore from Alabama . Judge Moore was sued by the ACLU for displaying the Ten Commandments in his courtroom foyer. He has been stripped of his judgeship and now they are trying to strip his right to practice law in Alabama ! The judge's poem sums it up quite well.

America the beautiful,

This was made with Wilma's My Home kit. This beautiful kit also comes in tagger size which is what was used to make the desktop in the first place. Tagger size kits are great for doing things like brag bokks and desk tops. Nut House scraps has a whole selection of tagger size kits. almost all of them are 300 DPI and none of them are less than 200 DPI. Wilma's entire store is on sale for at least 25% off until the end of the month.

Are you on dial-up and have problems downloading from those sites that have large files. Here at Nut House Scraps we keep our file size to 30 Megs. We know the whole world does not have high speed lines and we feel that those of you who cannot get anything but dial-up should be able to get digital scrapbooking kits also.

Is 30 Megs to big a file for you or do you need a back up copy of your files on CD or DVD? Just contact us and for a small fee we can burn you a CD or DVD depending on the amount of files that need to be burned and ship it to you. We don't feel that anyone needs to be left of out the digital scrapbooking world so we try our best to provide services that will benefit you all.

Custom made Rose Arbors

Acorn Designs has Poser items that are both full size and tagger size at 300 DPI. These are not items that were rendered at 72 DPI and then resized to 300 DPI. These items were rendered at 300 DPI to give you the best quality.

The background board is 12 x12 at 300 DPI and the rose arbor was put on it FULL size. So you can see how big our Arbors are. They are about 2700 pixels tall for the full size and about 900 pixels tall for the tagger size. There is also a second preview of the Rose Arbor here which is a close up of a section of it so that you can see the detail that is in the Rose Arbor. Right now I have 3 Rose Arbors in the store. They are a white wood with white roses. If you would like a Rose Arbors what is a darker wood or has a different color of Roses on it please contact me and I can see if I have roses in a color you need. There are also 5 different styles of arbors to choose from. Custom made Rose Arbors are $3.49 each. In the store now I also have a commercial use Layout Template. The template is in 3 different sizes 12 x 12, 8 1/2 x 11 and 11 x 8 1/2. One of our customers made a beautiful layout and this template comes from that layout. The template is in the store at 35% off June 28th and 29th.

Missing Daddy

I am sorry I have not been around but it has been a really hard month for me. Then end of April I got a phone call telling me that my father was ill and not expected to make it threw the weekend. He passed away on May 4, 2009 in the morning. He was laid to rest next to his parents on May 7, 2009 He was 91 years old. So who was my dad? My sister said it best in the Obit she wrote for him.

Wadus B Tate, 91 passed away May 4, 2009 at Tri-City Retirement Center in Pasco, Washington. He was born December 2, 1917 in Bokchito, Oklahoma, where he lived until 1948, moving straight to Hover, WA from OK.

In 1949, when the town of Hover was closed down because of the dam, he moved his garage from Hover to Finley and remodeled it into a home where he raised his family. He continued to live in Finley for the next 60 years.

He worked at Hanford as a millwright, worked on the local dams, and Phillips Chemical, retiring from Kerley Chemical in 1982. Wadus served in WWII as a propeller mechanic in England.

Wadus was an active community member. He was a Mason, a Shriner, a Rainbow Dad, a past patron of Eastern Star, a member of the Methodist Church in Kennewick and, above everything, he was a Grange member.

Wadus was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was the best "tinkerer" around; there wasn't anything that he couldn't fix or make. He was famous for his quilts, quilt racks, giant stuffed animals and all kinds of pretty little doo-dads.

Wadus was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and his son, Bradley. Wadus is survived by his wife Jettie, his children, Leota Fleig, PA; Lotus Minoski, PA; Leslie Tate, Snohomish, WA; and Terry Muse, NJ; his stepson, Lester Wilcox, Mt Lake Terrace, WA; his siblings, Geraldine Smith, George Tate, Joel Tate, Patricia McFarland, and Donis Lolkema; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either, Hospice, 2108 West Entiat Ave., Kennewick, WA 99336 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1108 W. Riverside Ave., Spokane, WA 99201.

No man stands as tall as when he stoops to help a child. Wadus will be missed, but not forgotten.

I have someone making layouts for me with photos from the funeral. I just could not handle doing it myself.

As you may or may not have heard or read I am no longer at DXD. Along with several other designers we have branched out and started our own site where we all know what is going on, where we all can control our own stores, see reports and KNOW we are not being ripped off. The blog, the forum and the gallery are all open now for your posting pleasure. God's Blessing

The man whispered, "God, speak to me" and a meadowlark sang.

The man looked around and said, "God let me see you." And a star shined brightly.

So, the man cried out in despair, "Touch me God, and let me know you are here."

Whereupon, God reached down and touched the man. But, the man brushed the butterfly away .

and walked on.
I found this to be a great reminder that God is always around us in the little and simple things that we take for granted ... even in our electronic age.

So I would like to add one more:

The man cried, "God, I need your help!" And an e-mail arrived reaching out with good news and encouragement.
But, the man deleted it and continued crying .

What a day yesterday was

I got up yesterday to a frozen hot water line. It had gotten down to -5 here over night and the pipes are exposed under the kitchen. I had also been using the fireplace that night so the furnace had not been running. A combination of the things allowed the hot water line to freeze. When I called my daughter to try and reach her husband she got real nasty with me because the line had froze. Like it had never froze when she lived in this same house. But I did finely speak to David and he told me what he had to do to thaw the lines out before. So over night I left a blow dryer on the hot water line under the kitchen sink and left the tap open a bit. This morning when I got up the line was thawed out and running fine. I called David back this morning and let him know that the problem was fixed and while I had him on the line I told him just how nasty his wife was and told him that he really needed to talk to her.

For some reason she is really angry about something in her life and I guess that mom is the one who she is taking it out on. I don't know if David and her are split up or what. I know that he had some back to Jersey around December 1st but I have no idea if he has gone back to Florida or not. The last anyone said to me about it was around January 7th and at that point he was still in Jersey. It none of my business what goes on between those two so I'm not even going to ask them. I know I had to make a real effort not to get nasty back with Jenn last night no matter how nasty she got with me. I so wanted to tell her off. But I kept my mouth shut. I will just do my best not to talk to Miss High and Mighty. From now on I will just call David and be done with it.

Oh and how fast justice comes about. Miss High and Mighty already called with a bad case of the "I wants" and mommy had a bad case of the "I don't have's". One should really think about how they treat others before they open their mouths because you never know when you just might need that person.

Anger Management

I had a situation today and rather than get mad I played the get even game with the person. I had made some hearts with my new action and used this other persons lace. The hearts were not being sold nor was the lace was not included in the action, The heart was used on the preview only. This person wanted to say it was a violation of her TOU. I read the TOU that came with the file and it was not a violation. Well, rather than the person wanting free advertising for her business she wanted the previews remade. So I remade the preview using lace that was Made by Acorn Designs and I made sure that when I put the new preview in the store that I included the fact that the Lace was made by Acorn Designs in the description. It don't bother me one bit.

But this is a good lesson for everyone in that even in your preview, don't use anything that does not say it is CU on it even if the item is not being included in your product. Someone might come back and complain that your violating their TOU. Now mind you I think it is pretty petty for a person to do so but there are those who are not happy unless they can find something to complain about.

Why when we see a layout in a gallery that really needs help is everyone so afraid to say "maybe if you tried this" or How about putting something over here" Or even Those colors are just not working with that photo". Would it not be great if we offered constructive criticism? Then maybe the person can make a better layout next time or they can redo that layout to make it better. Don't just say "good job" on a layout when you know it needs help. Maybe we should get in the habit of always saying something positive about the layout but then saying "CC" and offer some help if the Layout needs it.

Money problems

I had money stolen from me and ended up having to do 4 charge backs. One I know was to a scrapbooking site (Gotta pixel) one was to what I think was a scrap booking site but not really any clue as it just has a persons name on it. One was even to Barns and Noble. And the forth one was to some place called AP9 Value Max. This Value Max place also took money straight out of my checking account. There was even money taken straight out of my account to something called Onieda as well as a few others that I did not totally catch the name off from the woman at the bank. I have been doing scarpbooking for years now and have been shopping at Gotta pixel. I e-mailed Stacy Carlson and told her explained to her what happened and don't you know the woman banned me from her site. I can no longer go to her forum. I can't even begin to tell you how much money I have not only spent at her site but on her products. I hope she never bothers to come to my site because I will ban her as soon as she does. I hope when she tries to dispute the charge back to paypal that she also shows them my e-mail with the explanation on it because if she don't I will. This situation is costing me almost $500 and when you live on a fixed income of only $700 that does not leave much to live off of the next month. When I'm going to get money just to keep the electric on I have no clue.

Missie MD Designs

It is with a heavy heart that I must tell you that a couple of weeks ago Missie passed away. she never woke up at all. She was able to pass away peacefully. Missie will be greatly missed.

Anyone who wants to make a kit and sell it in her name for the proceeds to go the brain cancer research may do so. Missies husband has given us permission to keep her store open and to help keep her dream of helping the child with brain cancer.

Someone from DXD will be making a gray ribbon with Missie's name on it to be put on the previews. In your description you must also put "Made by (your name) in loving memory of Missie". This way people will know that it was not in fact made by Missie but for Missie.

Zip files should be named MD_Designs_(your name)_(kit name)
Files should be (your name)_(kit name)_item

If you can try to use gray as one of the colors in the kit. The reason for gray is that is the color of the ribbon for Brain Cancer.

I was the families wishes that I wait until today to break this very sad news to everyone. They did not want to ruin anyone's Christmas. It is also the wishes of the family that they not be contacted. Please respect their wishes.
